Job Summary

The Derrick Golf and Winter Club is seeking a passionate, high-energy culinary professional to lead our on-course culinary operation for the golf season.

This is not a traditional line cook role.

The Golf Member Experience Chef is responsible for delivering a high-level, member-focused culinary experience from the Snack Shack Outlet. This role operates with a high degree of autonomy, overseeing live-fire BBQ service, grab and go retail quality, inventory management, and on-course food innovation. The position serves as a culinary ambassador for the Club’s outdoor dining experience. This role collaborates with the FOH Service team to deliver an industry leading on course member experience. It is ideal for a chef who thrives on autonomy, personality-driven service, and taking full ownership of a food operation.

Upon successful completion of the golf season, the Golf Member Experience will have the opportunity to continue developing their culinary career with Derrick Golf and Winter Club Culinary Team bringing their passion indoors for the winter season.

Duties and Responsibilities

Service Management

  • Work with supervisors/managers and front-line staff daily.
  • Be present in member-facing areas during peak revenue periods.
  • Promote a positive team environment.
  • Liaise with the culinary team daily and foster open lines of communication and teamwork.
Culinary Leadership

  • Execute premium live-fire BBQ offerings with consistency and precision
  • Maintain the highest quality standards for all grab-and-go retail items
  • Develop and feature creative, seasonally relevant offerings
  • Ensure food safety excellence in an independent work environment
Retail & Operational Ownership

  • Manage daily pars and ordering needs
  • Monitor product freshness, rotation, and shrink control
  • Maintain visually appealing retail displays
  • Contribute to revenue growth through thoughtful product selection and presentation
Member Experience

  • Serve as a visible and engaging culinary presence on the course
  • Build relationships with members and anticipate preferences
  • Represent the culinary team with professionalism and personality
  • Gather and communicate member feedback to leadership
Leadership Development

  • Model passion, work ethic, and accountability for the entire F&B team
  • Demonstrate readiness for future supervisory roles
  • Support golf events and activations with creativity and energy

Education and Experience

  • 1+ years’ relevant working experience.
  • Knowledge of best food handling
  • Proven experience handling and responding to complex concerns/challenges.
  • Able to lift upwards of 50 lbs.
  • Consistent standing and bending for up to 8 hours per shift.
  • Journeyman’s certificate for “Cook” is considered an asset.
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills.
  • A passion for process improvement, great problem solving, and decision-making abilities.

Compensation

$20.00 - $22.00 per hour
